Barcelona released a statement on Monday night that they have “decided to appeal against the National Court judge Jose de la Mata’s proposal to send Neymar Jr, his parents, Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell and the club to trial in the case brought about by investment company DIS regarding the signing of the Brazilian player.

“The board express their surprise and complete disagreement with the resolution and the reasoning, especially keeping in mind that the same magistrate decided to archive the case in July. In the case that it goes to trial, Barcelona will maintain the stance that they have always held throughout the case that everyone under investigation is innocent.”

In this regard, FC Barcelona spokesman Josep Vives, believes that "it is a great inconsistency that the prosecution, which is a single body, with the same facts, agree a pact in Barcelona and yet accuse us of criminal offences in Madrid.” In Vives’ opinion, “this causes us great legal uncertainty," adding that "while our ability to be surprised is running out, all this outrages and worries us.”

Full statement:

The Board of Directors have decided to appeal against the interlocutory judgement made by judge José de la Mata in Madrid. He has proposed that the National Court open an indictment against the player, Neymar Jr, his parents, ex-president Sandro Rosell, president Jose Maria Bartomeu, and the club as a juridical person. This is in the context of the lawsuit interposed by the investment fund DIS because of the signing of the Brazilian player.

The board expressed its surprise and total disagreement with this development and its reasoning, especially taking into account the same magistrate's decision to dismiss the case last July and no action took place against the president Bartomeu. If the judicial action starts, FC Barcelona will maintain the innocence of those who are being investigated..
