Ten local television channels will be showing live matches of the Ghana Premier league, after an agreement was reached with TV right holders, Star Times.
Per the agreement, the ten TV channels have the right to show one match live, starting with this afternoon's clash between Asante Kotoko and Liberty Professional at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The move, to allow more TV stations to come in, is meant to improve upon coverage and increase publicity, making it the first time more than five television channels will telecast Ghana Premier League matches.
"This could lead to the change we need i terms of visibility we need to bring in the much-needed marketing opportunities for potential sponsor," communication director of the Ghana football Association, Ibrahimm Saani Daara told ghanaguardian.com
But it is yet unknown which move is being undertaking to ensure all non-live games are covered by these stations to beef up highlights, as far as marketing of matches is concerned.
State broadcaster Ghana Television sports, and Metro TV will spearhead the list with TV3 and UTV being the latest to join the train.
GTV Sports+, Adom TV and Max TV are the others who teamed up to bring the local game to cherished viewers.
Reports are that GHOne TV and Kantanka TV may also telecast but were yet to confirm their availability for the opener.
GTV, GTV Sports+, Metro TV, Max TV and Adom TV telecast some of the matches last season when Supersport were the broadcast sponsors of the league last season.
