The GNPC Foundation has supported the sanitary upkeep of the Sekondi Central Prisons with a donation of over 20 large size waste bins.

Speaking to Citi News during the presentation, the Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah, said the support of the sanitary logistics is all within the Foundation’s objective of empowering Ghanaian youth no matter where they find themselves.

“The 20 large size waste bins is exactly the number the Sekondi Central Prisons requested from us which is to help them keep their environment clean and healthy. The Foundation is committed to empowering Ghanaian youth, whether in prison, school or in skill development. We have given ourselves a very huge target and I have said time and over that, at the end of 5 years, if an impact assessment is conducted, we should have impacted the lives of about 10 million Ghanaians and that is what we are working towards”, he said.

The Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation also highlighted the foundation’s focus for 2021.

“This year we are looking mainly at the completion of projects that were commenced last year. We have hundreds of projects across the country in all 16 regions. So from January to this month, we have been on the field ensuring that the projects are completed. A couple of new projects may come on board, but those decisions may come up later, but mainly it’s a year to complete projects and that’s what we are working on. We are changing the narrative where CSR activities used to be a philanthropic module…but we are saying it’s an investment and that’s exactly the angle we are taking this,” he added.

The Commander of the Sekondi Central Prisons, Assistant Director of Prisons, Dr. Anthony Dadzi, while thanking the GNPC for supporting its environmental cleanliness further called for regular fumigation at the Prison which currently has 815 inmates.

“We thank GNPC for helping us in our daily work to ensure a clean environment at the Prisons. The next thing we need most is the fumigation of the place. We sometimes experience insect infections including bedbugs, cockroaches, mosquitoes among others in the yard, so we are pleading with your outfit to also assist us with fumigation of the place for us to solve the problem”, he said.
