We are just a few days away from the end of the year.
And for the next couple of days, we’re reminiscing on things that happened this year. Nigeria has been plagued with the demises of some very important and significant personalities this year. Below are some of them who have passed away this year.
Iconic captains of the Super Eagles, and former coach of the team, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi passed away on the 8th of June after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
2. OJB Jezreel
Three years after a kidney transplant operation in India, popular Nigerian music producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist, Babatunde Okungbowa, better known as OJB Jezreel, died in June 2016.
3. Mark Odiachi
Nollywood actor, Mark Odiachi passed away in February after a brief illness at the General hospital in Ikorodu, area of Lagos.
The technical director of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), and former coach of the Super Eagles, Shuaibu Amodu died in June shortly after complaining of chest pain.
The Nigerian Entertainment Industry loss Nomoreloss early this year to Typhoid fever. He is known for hit songs like Iyawo Asiko, Oro re etc.
6. Elechi Amadi
One of Africa’s finest novelist, poet and dramatist, Captain Elechi Amadi died this year at the Good Heart Hospital in Port Harcourt at the age of 82.
7. Bukky Ajayi
The movie thespian died at the early hours of Wednesday, July 6, at her home in Lagos. Investigations by the Net NG reveal that the respected thespian has been down with heart-related ailments for a couple of weeks before she died.
8. Martins Njubuigbo
Veteran Nollywood actor, Martins Njubuigbo, popularly known as Elder Maya has died months after battling a liver-related ailment.
9. Henrietta Kosoko
Nollywood actress, Henrietta Kosoko recently passed away at the age of 52. She has featured in many Yoruba movies. She is survived by her children and husband, Jide Kosoko.
10. Sikiru Adesina aka Arakangudu
Popular Yoruba movie actor, Arakangudu died in January. He is survived by wives and children. He disappeared from the acting scene after an undisclosed illness.
